Because of a recent heatwave we had apples on one of our trees ripen early. I spent part of the day peeling and preserving apples.
We have renovated our upstairs bathroom and we needed a slim and tall cabinet for beside the sink. My wife bought an inexpensive one secondhand and I tiled it; then added some chrome hardware.
My Dad had his Birthday recently. I carved a little gift to present to him on the grand occasion.

I've been working on this one off and on for the last couple weeks. I photographed Gerry in our driveway and created the illustrations for the project from those photos.
Today I put the final varnish on these. They are each 7 inches by 7 inches and have a nice jewel-like quality.

I've finished the modelling of this character and have rigged him to a basic skeleton for posing. Still some work to do on his mane, and colour details.
This week I've been working on a couple character models, some new models for VA3D, and I created a UVmapping tutorial for my friend Jeff Rodriguez.

Last night I got the little tentacled guy textured, rigged, and in the scene.
Yesterday was Fathers Day, and my lovely wife took me for a pedicure at a local resort/spa. We had a great time and I went for the paint too - cause I love paint.

I have been lax about updating Studio News lately only because I have been down with a cold. One of my current projects, repackaging an album for my friend Steven Palmer.
This week one of my projects is a CD package for Dawn Tyndall of The Tyndall Effect. I'm really enjoyng this project, which is all about illustrating our inner light.

This last week I've spent a great deal of time learning to control the HairFX in Strata3D. I can't show the job I'm working on (yet); but these tests were pretty cool.
Today Dyan and I celebrate our 5th year of marital bliss! It has been 5 years of absolute heaven.
It has been a busy week; and next week looks even more hectic. A few projects: Icon Design, Business Card for a Babysitter, VA3D Champagne motif, and Portfolio Image layout - this for my friend Linda Neville.
I spent this week (and last) working on a number of projects; all digital. Some logo design & redesign; a CD cover illustration; a few new models for VectorArt3D and some digital 3D stuff just for fun.

I started this carving last year (based on the digital illustration) but have only now begun to carve it.
Today I put the first application of paint on this carving. ( I also worked on a few things in the computer and did some carving on a larger piece which I will show soon)
I'm carving this for my friend Chriz Wong. He resides in Hong Kong and sent me one of his beautifully illustrated Comic Books. I am reciprocating with this, my first carving for the "Year of the Pig".

Today I finished the shaping of this mockup. The purpose of this piece is to give committee members a very real idea of the size and shape of it.
Bubs is very serious about Studio business. I think she is telling me to CLEAN UP!
Here you can see that I have started smoothing the shape. A look at the bottom shows how much more has to come off. A carriage bolt is epoxied in for attaching to the base.
After cutting my block and building a simple base, I start roughing the shape with my favourite tool - a 100 year old horse-shoeing rasp.
I am building a physical mock-up of this award. I started by creating a digital model from the sketch; which I used to create working plans.
As you can see this is a small one. Just a couple finishing applications of paint needed.
I've been picking away at this one off and on for a few months now. Time to finish it.
